Suspicious Male

On Nov. 12 at 6:28 p.m., officers responded to Lot 24. A male was spotted checking car doors. Everyone is advised to lock their vehicles upon leaving.

Hit and Run

On Nov. 16 at 4:40 p.m., there was a report of a hit and run in Lot 32. No suspects.

Stolen Signs

On Nov. 16 at 6:00 p.m., there was a larceny complaint of street signs in Lot 5. Someone took all of the signs off of their posts. No suspects.

Stolen Bank Card

On Nov. 12, there was a report of a bank card missing from a subject’s room. She had a group of friends visiting and when they left the card was missing. Investigation continues.

Theft in the SRC

On Nov. 13 at 12:00 p.m., a victim reported their backpack stolen from the Student Recreation Center. The backpack contained a T183 calculator along with other items. No suspects. Anyone with information please contact DPS.

Missing Laptop

On Nov. 14, officers were called to Cramer Hall. A victim’s laptop was stolen. Subject stated she had her door unlocked when she left her room. When she returned her computer was missing. Investigation continues.

House Party

On Nov. 14, officers assisted Big Rapids Public Safety with a large house party. The party was then cleared out.

Missing Cell Phone

On Nov. 15 at 3:30 a.m., a subject reported her phone stolen from Bond Hall. No suspects.

Stolen Credit Card

On Nov. 16 at 12:40 a.m., officers dispatched to Taggart Hall in reference to a stolen credit card. Investigation revealed that the card had been used several times along with a nearby occupants card that was being used as well. Suspects were identified and referred to the prosecutor’s office and the Office of Student Conduct.

Marijuana Complaint

On Nov. 15 at 11:56 p.m., officers dispatched to Pickell Hall for a marijuana complaint. A small amount of marijuana was found. Matter was referred to the Office of Student Conduct.

Intoxicated Person

On Nov. 14 at 12:16 a.m., officers dispatched to Lot 71 for an intoxicated person near a vehicle. Officers arrived on the scene and the person appeared to be sleeping. EMS was contacted and subject was transported to the Medical Center. An MIP was issued and subject was referred to the Office of Student Conduct.

Flee and Elude

On Nov. 14 at 11:09 p.m., officers observed a vehicle drive into the curb. The vehicle also had a defective passenger sidelight. Officers attempted to stop the vehicle when the vehicle accelerated away from the police. After a short pursuit officers arrested the driver for flee and elude and OWI (operating while intoxicated). The non-student was lodged in the county jail.

Traffic Stop

On Nov. 18 at 10:27 p.m., officers performed a traffic stop on Cedar and Warren Streets. Investigation revealed that three subjects were MIP. Paraphernalia was found in the vehicle. Subjects were referred to the prosecutor’s office and the Office of Student Conduct.

Ticket Totals

From Nov. 11 through the 19, the department of public safety identified 457 violators. Each violator was ticketed for the total of $8, 110. Actual amount depends on whether the ticket was paid, voided, or reduced.
