Crime During the Break

A round-up of the past two weeks of crime on the FSU campus

Smelly Substance

On Dec. 2 at 10 p.m., officers assisted hall staff with a marijuana complaint in Ward Hall. Three students were referred to the Office of Student Conduct.

Marijuana Complaint

On Dec. 3 at 1 a.m., officers assisted hall staff in Bond Hall with a marijuana complaint. Three students were referred to the Office of Student Conduct.

Car/Pedestrian Accident

On Dec. 1 at 9:25 a.m., officers assisted the city police with a hit and run car/pedestrian accident at Perry and State Street. A student was crossing on East State Street walking south bound when they were struck by a vehicle making a left turn into campus. The driver fled the scene without being identified. Anyone with information please contact the Department of Public Safety at 231-591-5000.

Infamous Flyers

On Dec. 1 at 11:45 p.m., there was a report of students hanging inappropriate flyers on buildings. Three students were identified and the posters were removed. Students were referred to the Office of Student Conduct.

Hit and Run

On Nov. 22 at 2:20 a.m., Ferris officers assisted city police at a hit and run personal injury accident on Fuller Ave. Officers located the suspect in an area apartment. Suspect was arrested for Operating While Intoxicated (OWI) and for leaving the scene of the accident.

Stolen Projector

On Nov. 23 at 2:30 p.m., there was a report of a projector stolen from a room in the Swan Building. No suspects.

Wrong Way

On Nov. 23 at 11:25 p.m., officers stopped a vehicle in Lot 39 for entering the lot from a Do Not Enter location. The driver had a warrant and was arrested and lodged in the county jail.

Disorderly Subject

On Nov. 21 at 6:55 p.m., officers identified a disorderly subject in the ice arena. The subject was found intoxicated and removed.

Suspicious Smoke

On Nov. 21 at 4:50 a.m., officers assisted the Fire Department on a smoke call in West Campus Apartments. The resident left food burning on their stove which caused the smoke. Fans were used to clear the smoke.

Crime Over the Break

On Nov. 29 at 10:20 p.m., there was a report of a larceny complaint in Pickell Hall. Several items were stolen from the victim’s room during the Thanksgiving Break. No suspects.

Stolen Flag

On Nov. 24 at 2:30 p.m., there was a report of a larceny complaint at the West Building during the evening. The Ferris flag was stolen from the building.

Noise Complaint

On Nov. 25 at 2:40 a.m., there was a report of a noise complaint in South Campus Apartments. One subject was referred to the Office of Student Conduct.

Vehicle Damage

On Nov. 24 at 12:45 p.m., there was a report of vehicle damage in Lot 5. The damage was done to the trunk of the car.

Ticket Totals

From Nov. 19 through Dec. 3, the Department of Public Safety identified 673 violations. Each violator was ticketed for a total of $11,430. Actual amount depends on whether the ticket was paid, voided, or reduced.
