Suspicious packages, domestic assaults and loud music

A round-up of this week’s crime across the Ferris campus

Suspicious package

On Feb. 19 at 4:50 p.m., there was a report of a suspicious package sent to the Swan Building. The package was examined and determined not to be a threat.

Vandercook window damaged

On Feb. 20 at 4:30 p.m., there was a report of a damaged window at Vandercook Hall. The investigation resulted in one subject being lodged in the county jail for domestic violence.

Marijuana in Vandercook

On Feb. 18 at 8 p.m., there was a report of a marijuana complaint at Vandercook Hall. One subject was referred to the Office of Student Conduct.

Loud music

On Feb. 21 at 12:10 a.m., there was a report of loud music in West Campus Apartments. Subjects were identified, told to turn the music down and referred to the Office of Student Conduct.

Intoxicated and disorderly

On Feb. 21 at 2:15 a.m., there was a report of an intoxicated, disorderly person in Vandercook Hall. The subject was ticketed for MIP and referred to the Office of Student Conduct.

Erratic driving

On Feb. 23 at 1:20 a.m., officers stopped a vehicle on Maple Street for erratic driving. The driver was found to have a suspended license and ticketed.

Loud exhaust

On Feb. 23 at 11:50 p.m., officers stopped a vehicle on State Street for a loud exhaust. The dirver was found to have a suspended license and ticketed.

Marijuana in Cramer

On Feb. 24 at 1:30 a.m., there was a report of a marijuana complaint in Cramer Hall. The suspect was identified and lodged in the county jail for possession.

Hit and run

On Feb. 19 at 9:40 p.m., there was a report of a hit and run accident on Stadium Drive. The suspect was identified and a warrant request was sent to the prosecutor’s office.

West Campus fight

On Feb. 18 at 2:25 p.m., there was a report of a domestic assault/fight in West Campus Apartments. The suspect was identified and lodged in the county jail.

Hallisy window damaged

On Feb. 20 at 12:02 a.m., there was a report of a damaged window in Hallisy Hall. One subject was ticketed for MIP, referred to the Office of Student Conduct and ordered to pay restitution for the
window.

Another suspicious package

On Feb. 21 at 7:50 p.m., there was a report of a possible fraud complaint in McNearny Hall. Student received an unexpected, suspicious package. Following an inspection, the package was deemed nonthreatening.

Vehicle impounded

On Feb. 15 at 5 p.m., a vehicle in Lot 11 was impounded for unpaid tickets.

Ticket Totals: From Feb. 18 through Feb. 25, the Department of Public Safety reported 298 total violations. Each violator was ticketed for a total of $4,760. The actual amount depends on whether the ticket is paid, voided or reduced.
