Bike tour rolls through Big Rapids

Keep active and outgoing on a midsummer’s day

Providing another thing to do this summer, the FSU Alumni Office will be conducting a bike tour through Big Rapids on Saturday, June 29.

The scholarship-supporting community event promises fun, food and exercise for families, friends and solo riders alike. The event offers five carefully chosen biking routes of varying lengths, all beginning at the Ferris Student Recreation Center between 8 and 11 a.m.

The registration fee for the event is $50 before June 1 and $75 on or after that day. The fee covers the event T-shirt, snacks and the post-ride lunch. The lunch will run from noon to 4:30 p.m.; a prize drawing will be held during the lunch at 2 p.m. for event participants.

Ferris State cycling jerseys are also for sale. Available for the first time, the custom-designed Louis Garneau jerseys can be purchased for $75. Emergency services, bike technicians, rest stops and showers will all also be available before or during the event.

More event information and route maps can be found at ferrisalumni.org for anyone interested.

For those spending the summer in Big Rapids, the bike tour is yet another opportunity to keep occupied and involved during the lazy summer months. Just don’t forget a helmet—they are required.
