Senior defenseman Brandon Anselmini became the fourth Bulldog to ink a professional contract this postseason after signing an amateur tryout contract with the Orlando Solar Bears of the East Coast Hockey League (ECHL) on Monday.

Anselmini, who dons the No. 10 jersey for the Solar Bears, had little time to adjust to new surroundings as he skated in his first game for his new team the day after signing his contract. Anselmini was on the ice for Orlando’s only goal in the 3-1 loss to the Florida Everblades on April 5.

The 22-year-old Guelph, Ontario native tallied 13 goals and 46 assists for a total of 59 points during his 149 games as a Bulldog. He also saw the Bulldogs reach the WCHA Final Five three consecutive times during his collegiate tenure.

Anselmini will have the opportunity to play out the three remaining games of the Solar Bears regular season. The team will then evaluate Anselmini’s performance before making the decision on whether or not to re-sign him next season.
