The Bulldogs snap an eight-game winless streak with a 2-1 victory
The Ferris soccer team defeated the Findlay Oilers 2-1 on Sunday to end an eight-game winless streak.
Freshman midfielder Hillary Procunier scored her first career goal just 2 minutes, 36 seconds into the game. The team built off of the quick start and carried the play for most of the first half. Sophomore forward Bri Borgman scored in the twelfth minute for the Bulldogs. Borgman leads the team with nine goals this season.
Findlay responded with a goal by Sara Jones toward the end of the first half. The Bulldogs took a 2-1 lead into halftime and neither teamed scored in the second half. Senior goalie Kari Alsager recorded five saves for the Bulldogs in the winning effort.
Ferris had not won since defeating Ashland 6-1 on Sept. 18. The victory was the second for the team so far this season.
The Bulldogs improved their record to 2-11-2 for the year. The team is 2-8-1 in the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference.
The Bulldogs have just three contests left this season and they are all at home. Two of the remaining three games are against teams that have yet to lose in conference play: Grand Valley State and Saginaw Valley State. The team’s next contest is against Saginaw Valley State on Oct. 23 at 4:00 p.m.
