Automobile accident ends in tragedy

Ferris student Erik E. Williams, a 19-year-old Howard City resident, died on Oct. 14 at Spectrum Health in Grand Rapids.

Williams was in his second year of the Pre-Criminal Justice Program in the College of Education and Human Services. He graduated from Ludington High School in 2009.

The funeral service was held at Oak Grove Funeral Home in Ludington.

According to reports, Williams was driving in Mecosta County when his vehicle went off the road and hit a tree. The accident happened the morning of Oct. 14 near 183rd Ave. and Garfield Road.

Shane Johnson was a passenger in the vehicle and is in stable condition at Butterworth Hospital in Grand Rapids.

The Ferris flag was lowered to half-staff on Oct. 19 in Williams’ honor. n
