Missing Textbooks

Dec. 16 at 12:10 p.m., there was a larceny of textbooks complaint. The subject stated she was missing a textbook. Investigation revealed a possible suspect who was involved in another textbook complaint. The suspect was interviewed and sent to the prosecutor’s office for charges.

Busted Windows

Dec. 16 at 9:15 p.m., officers were called to Lot 5 for an MDOP (malicious destruction of property) complaint. Car door windows were smashed out of the subject’s vehicle the previous night. No suspects.

OWI

Dec. 16 at 11:44 p.m., officers performed a traffic stop at Perry Avenue and State Street. A car drove through a red light. The subject was found to be OWI (operating while intoxicated) and lodged in the county jail.

Stolen Glasses

Dec. 16, officers were dispatched to the Optometry Center for a complaint in reference to stolen eye glasses. Investigation revealed that the glasses were stolen in 2007 and now being returned. The suspect was identified and interviewed.

Missing Bicycle

Dec. 16 at 2:45 a.m., there was a larceny complaint in Merrill Hall for a stolen bicycle. The bike was a black GT Windstream and was stolen from a bike rack. No suspects.

Suspicious Activity

Dec. 16 at 3:22 a.m., officers were called to Merrill Hall in reference to the smell of marijuana. The subjects admitted to using marijuana. The officers did not locate any marijuana in the room. The matter was referred to the Office of Student Conduct.

Suspicious Smell

Jan. 12 at 9 p.m., officers dispatched to Merrill Hall for a smell of marijuana complaint. The subjects denied using and possessing marijuana. Officers did not locate any marijuana in the room. One subject was arrested for an outstanding warrant.

Larceny Complaint

Jan. 12 at 2 p.m., officers were dispatched to the Rankin Center for a larceny complaint. A subject believed that her wallet was missing from her purse. No suspects.

Ticket Totals: From Dec. 9 through the 18, the Department of Public Safety identified 497 violators. Each violator was ticketed for a total of $8,060. Actual amount depends on whether the ticket was paid, voided, or reduced. n
