Ferris State reclaimed the fourth-place position in the conference standings after defeating Michigan State University on Jan. 27.
Ferris improved to 9-10-3-2 in CCHA play and 12-12-4 overall after beating the Spartans 2-1 at home on Thursday night.
The Bulldogs started scoring early, netting both of their goals in the first period. Michigan State would rally in the third period, outshooting the Bulldogs 10-5. Only one of the Spartan shots on goal made it past senior goaltender Pat Nagle as he made 19 saves in the game.
Ferris pressured MSU goaltender Drew Palmisano by taking 29 shots on goal.
Junior center Jordie Johnston and senior defenseman Zach Redmond netted the Bulldog goals. Johnston registered his fifth goal of the season, while Redmond scored his seventh of the year. Redmond’s goal tied with his career high game-winning goal mark of last years three.
Nagle picked up his 12th win on the year and lowered his GAA to 1.96. With the win, Nagle matched a career single-season high that he attained a season ago.
Ferris will next take the ice Feb. 4-5 against the Alaska Nanooks in Fairbanks, Alaska.
