With so many talents, this ring leader can do it all. No tent, no animals—just a sole man with many abilities.

Michael DuBois, the solitary performer in The Solo Circus event, will show off his horde of talents on March 25. DuBois graduated from Pennsylvania State University eight years ago, where he was the president of the juggling club.

“I will probably go because it sounds entertaining and will be a nice break from school,” said Lauren Wolf, sophomore in pre-pharmacy. “I won’t have to think that hard when I watch it.”

DuBois began performing in The Solo Circus about six years ago, and he has since performed at over 300 different colleges across the country. During a typical show, DuBois tackles the art of magic, juggling, comedy, mind reading, unicycling, and various other circus sideshow stunts.

His multitude of talents has gained DuBois national attention. In 2009, he appeared on The Tonight Show with Jay Leno; DuBois performed an act consisting of jump roping while on a unicycle—the catch was that the jump rope was on fire.

He has also appeared on MTV, scored the cover spot on Campus Activities Magazine, and met the likes of Jimmy Fallon, Steve Carell, and Tina Fey.

“I honestly probably wouldn’t attend because that’s the type of thing you can just look up on YouTube,” said Erica Asaro, sophomore in pre-pharmacy. “I’m not interested in that kind of thing, but it would be fun to take siblings to it.”

According to solocircus.com, the show boasts that “his high energy and sense of humor will keep the students laughing and begging you to bring him back to campus.” This variety show will be audience interactive.

“I wish I could attend this event. If I were in town that weekend, I would definitely go,” said Heidi Kaltenthaler, sophomore in nursing. “I’m surprised it’s taking place in the Dome Room; it seems like it would be a bigger event than that and should take place in Williams Auditorium. If my siblings were coming that weekend, it would be a great event to take them to.”

The Solo Circus is free and will take place on March 25 at 8 p.m. in the Rankin Student Center Dome Room. For more information, contact Amber Porter at amberporter12@nullgmail.com or call 616-232-0949. You can also check out DuBois on Facebook. n
