Showdown between Modern Warfare 3 and Battlefield 3

Coke versus Pepsi. Cheese versus pepperoni pizza. Michigan versus Michigan State. Everyone has their stance about these dividing issues.

One debate that ranges between gamers is which modern first-person shooter they should play.

Battlefield 3 (BF3) and Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 (MW3) share the same genre: first-person shooter taking place in the near future.

MW3 continues the single player storyline from the previous installment while BF3’s campaign introduces a new storyline.

MW3 is known for its online experience, mostly made up with players individually running around and shooting at each other for the goal of improving their own kill to death ratio.

BF3’s online play allows teams to use land and air vehicles to capture locations on the map. This gameplay focuses more on using small groups of players to cooperatively work together to win the round.

Some of the criticism that MW3 faces is that it is largely unchanged from the previous game, Modern Warfare 2. Most casual players will notice the fact that it is basically the same game with the exception of new map designs.

So if you’re deciding on which first-person shooter you would want to play, consider what kind of game play is more important to you. If you want to play one with a better single-player campaign with a multiplayer that favors individuality, MW3 should be your choice. But if you want to play a game with a truer, more team-based online environment where vehicles can be utilized, BF3 should be honored with your selection. n
