During the university’s four-day recess, the Bulldog softball team was in action. FSU faced off against the Hillsdale College Chargers in a four game home series April 6-7. The Bulldogs were beat Hillsdale in three of the four games by scores of 9-1, 7-1 and 4-0.
The Chargers managed to squeak out a 2-1 victory in the fourth and final game of the weekend. The Bulldogs’ offense was overpowering as FSU produced 15 hits in the 9-1 victory which ended in five innings due to the mercy rule. The Bulldogs kept their bats hot in the following two games before falling in a pitcher’s duel in the final game of the series.
FSU will return to action April 10 as they travel to the Upper Penninsula to take on Lake Superior State University. The Bulldogs hope to improve their current 16-18 overall record.The team’s next home games will be April 13 against Lake Erie College. The first game of the doubleheader is set to begin at 3:30 p.m. n
