Need some help dressing yourself this fall or do you just feel like your wardrobe isn’t up to par? Are you a lost puppy when it comes to keeping up with the trends?
The Student Fashion Alliance (SFA) has offered some great dos and don’ts to keep you up to date on the latest trends this fall and keep you from standing out in the crowd (in a bad way).
Arlean Pollard, Ferris senior in social work and SFA president said, “Wear what you like, but don’t super stand out.”
It’s really important for you to express yourself with bold colors and patterns, but it’s also important not to over do it.
Nicole John, Ferris senior in psychology and SFA member, added, “You can stand out, but don’t dress looking like a banana!”
If you want to learn more about how to keep up with the latest styles and trends, start looking on Instagram and Tumblr for inspiration. These social media platforms are a great way to find ideas as well as share your own personal style.
If you still feel lost after these tips, be sure to join SFA on Wednesdays at 6 p.m. in Rankin 238 to learn more about fashion. But for now, here is your complete guide to the Fall 2012 Fashion Trends that will keep you out of the DON’T zone.
Do’s & Don’t
DO invest in a pair of brown riding boots. You can pair them with jeans, leggings or even a dress.
DO know the difference between leggings and tights.
Guys, DO rock the fitted jeans this fall.
This fall bow ties are making an appearance for men. Guys, DO invest in one as well as a good blazer.
Guys and gals, DO wear leather jackets. They are also coming back this fall and makes for a great layering piece. You can either wear them as a jacket alone or you can pair it with a vintage cardigan or hoodie.
Finally ladies, DO pull your outfit together with thin waist-belts. These are a great accessory when wearing loose fitted tops and dresses.
Whatever you do, DON’T wear tights as pants. Leggings are one thing, but tights cannot to be worn alone.
DON’T let your skinny jeans sag. The ladies do not want to see your Batman boxers.
Girls, we know you love to wear your jewelry. DON’T over do it this fall. Wear pieces that complement each other, not pieces that deck you out like a Christmas tree.
DON’T put away those bright summer pieces just yet. This fall, bright colors, pastels, browns, reds and navy are trending. Feel bold and mix and match your summer clothes with you favorite fall cardigans and scarves.
