Fireworks thrown at pedestrians

A round-up of this week’s crime across the Ferris campus

Hit and run

On Oct. 18 at 3:30 p.m., there was a report of a hit and run accident in Lot 54. The passenger side door of a vehicle was damaged sometime in the previous 24 hours.

Marijuana complaint

On Oct. 21 at 7:40 p.m., officers assisted Helen Ferris Hall staff on a marijuana complaint. One subject was referred to the Office of Student Conduct.

Drunk at Henderson

On Oct. 21 at 3:40 a.m., officers assisted hall staff at Henderson Hall concerning an intoxicated subject. One nonstudent was ticketed for MIP and removed from campus.

Dryer fire

On Oct. 21 at 7:05 a.m., officers responded to the Sports Complex regarding a smoke complaint. Clothing in a dryer was found to have caught on fire. The fire was extinguished by the fire department.

Suspicious activity

On Oct. 20 at 12:10 a.m., officers investigated suspicious activity in Lot 61. The investigation revealed three subjects removing parts from automobiles. A warrant request was sent to the prosecutor’s office.

Larceny at Wal-Mart

On Oct. 18 at 5:50 p.m., officers assisted the sheriff’s department with a larceny from Wal-Mart. The subjects were detained and handed over to the sheriff’s department.

More marijuana

On Oct. 17 at 8:40 p.m., officers assisted Cramer Hall staff regarding a marijuana complaint. Five subjects were ticketed for MIP and referred to the Office of Student Conduct.

Improper charges

On Oct. 15 at 4 p.m., there was a report of a fraud complaint in Brophy Hall. The victim reported that her credit card had improper charges. The investigation continues.

Helping city police

On Oct. 11 at 10:20 p.m., officers assisted city police on Ives Street near Maple Street. One subject was transported to the county jail.

Fireworks near the SRC

On Oct. 12 at 5:30 p.m., there was a report of a fireworks complaint near the SRC. A student reported that a car drove by and threw firecrackers out the window.

Theft in Lot 4

On Oct. 15 at 10 a.m., there was a report of a theft from a vehicle in Lot 4. It is believed to have occurred sometime between Oct.11-13.

Bad check

On Oct. 15 at 3 p.m., there was a report of a bad check complaint from the Holiday Inn. The suspect was identified and a warrant request was sent to the prosecutor’s office.

Still smoking

On Oct. 15 at 8:30 p.m., there was a report of suspicious subjects in Lot 61. Four subjects were referred to the Office of Student Conduct for use of marijuana.

Theft in Bond

On Oct. 15 at 11:45 p.m., there was a report of a theft complaint in Bond Hall. Two suspects were identified and a warrant request was sent to the prosecutor’s office.

Ticket Totals: From Oct. 16 through Oct. 23, the Department of Public Safety identified 303 violators. Each violator was ticketed for a total of $4,810. Actual amount depends on whether the ticket was paid, voided or reduced.
