A round-up of this week’s crime across the Ferris campus

Smoke and drive

On Nov. 18 at 1 a.m., officers stopped a vehicle on Ferris Drive for speeding. The driver was found to be in possession of marijuana and was referred to the Office of Student Conduct.

Assault at Clark

On Nov. 17 at 1:15 p.m., there was a report of a minor assault that occurred the night before at Clark Hall. Two subjects were referred to the Office of Student Conduct.

Suspended license

On Nov. 17 at 10 p.m., officers stopped a vehicle speeding on Perry Street. The driver was found to have a suspended license and was ticketed.

Marijuana in Lot 54

On Nov. 18 at 3:20 a.m., officers encountered three subjects smoking marijuana in a parked car in Lot 54. One subject was lodged in the county jail, one was ticketed for MIP, and all were referred to the Office of Student Conduct.

Reckless driving

On Nov. 17 at 1:40 a.m., officers attempted to stop a vehicle on Michigan Avenue for reckless driving. The vehicle failed to yield to police but was eventually stopped near Chestnut Street and Warren Avenue. The non-student driver was lodged in the county jail for attempted flee and elude as well as drunk driving.

Hit and run

On Nov. 15 at 3 p.m., there was a report of a hit and run accident in Lot 11.

Fraud at the Rock

On Nov. 14 at 10:30 p.m., there was a report of a non-student attempting to use a student’s ID card at the Rock Café. The student was referred to the Office of Student Conduct and a warrant request was sent to the prosecutor’s office.

Marijuana complaint at Vandercook

On Nov. 14 at 5:30 p.m., there was a report of a marijuana complaint in Vandercook Hall. One subject was lodged in the county jail for possession of marijuana.

Stolen clothes

On Nov. 13 at 12:50 a.m., there was a report of stolen clothes at Clark Hall. The clothes were recovered, and one student was referred to the Office of Student Conduct.

Shoes swiped

On Nov. 12 at 4:30 p.m., there was a report of shoes stolen from an unlocked locker in the men’s locker room at the Rec Center.

Marijuana at Taggart

On Nov. 12 at 11:30 p.m., there was a report of a marijuana complaint at Taggart Hall. One subject was referred to the Office of Student Conduct.

Fire alarm activation at Brophy

On Nov. 10 at 11:10 p.m., the fire alarm at Brophy Hall was activated by smoke caused by burnt food in the first floor kitchenette. No property was damaged.

Drunk driver

On Nov. 11 at 2 a.m., officers stopped a vehicle near the intersection of State Street and Perry Street. The driver was found to be intoxicated and was lodged in the county jail.

Wrong way on one way

On Nov. 9 at 12:30 a.m., officers stopped a vehicle on Stewart Avenue for driving the wrong way down a one way street. The driver was found to be intoxicated and was lodged in the county jail.

Ticket Totals: From Nov. 6 through Nov. 20, the Department of Public Safety identified 717 violators. Each violator was ticketed for a total of $11,560. Actual amount depends on whether the ticket was paid, voided or reduced.
