Preparing to graduate

Spring fair has graduating students covered

Ferris State University students can get one step closer to tossing their caps in the air by attending the Spring Graduation Fair on March 26 in the Rankin Student Center Dome Room.

The fair will be held from noon to 5 p.m. and will address a variety of pre-graduation needs.

“Students should attend the event because many of the opportunities offered will be available that day only,” alumni relations assistant Amy Packard said.

At the fair, graduating students will be able to pick up commencement ceremony tickets, purchase a cap and gown and order graduation announcements. Other opportunities include ordering a class ring or business cards, completing a loan exit interview and creating a video message for family and friends to be shown prior to the commencement ceremony.

Ferris senior biology major Lainee Clay is considering making a video message to thank her parents for their support throughout her college career.

“It’s a neat way to show your appreciation, and I know my mom and dad would like it,” she said. “I’ll have to take some time to think about what I want to say, so I can let them know how much they mean to me.”

The fair also includes refreshments and door prizes.

According to Packard, the fair, which is sponsored by the University’s Commencement and Alumni offices as well as the James L. Lundberg Bookstore, generally has 300 students come through during the fall. This spring, Packard is expecting around 800 students.

Students who are unable to attend the fair can pick up their commencement ceremony tickets from the college’s commencement coordinator beginning March 27. Each student is eligible to receive six tickets. Children 2 years old and younger do not need a ticket to attend the ceremony.

Additionally, the bookstore will have caps and gowns available for purchase between March 27 and May 3.
