Making a difference

Nursing student helps Ferris Idols

When Megan Moore isn’t out enjoying half-off appetizers at Applebee’s she’s busy pursuing her degree in nursing and dedicating her time to Ferris Idols.

Working as a nurse anesthetic for Spectrum Health is one of Moore’s goals. She has also thought about teaching nursing courses at a college. However, her passion for helping the community has shined here on campus.

Moore is an active member in Ferris Idols and the Nursing Association. Currently, she is in the process of becoming a member in student government to help represent Ferris Idols on campus.

“Ferris Idols is an organization that works to better the community, while being a positive role model for children,” Moore said. “We are partnering with Big Brothers, Big Sisters.”

Big Brothers, Big Sisters along with Ferris Idols are hoping to start a lunch buddy program here in the community. This will be a great opportunity for students on campus help make a difference not only on campus, but in the lives of young people in the surrounding area.

“[Through that program] Children that come from less off homes can have someone to look up to,” Moore said.

Ferris Idols is always looking for new members, Moore added.

Meetings are held at 9 p.m. every Tuesday in FLITE 214.
