Televised games announced

Ferris athletic department to air hockey games on FerrisTV

The Ferris State athletic department has announced that Ferris Hockey will be televised this weekend, Jan 24-25 when they take on Michigan Tech.

This marks the second straight weekend that the athletic department and housing and residence life services with the support of Ferris media production have picked up the cost to televise hockey games in Big Rapids for residents and students, enabling them to watch it for free.

The games will be broadcasted in the residence halls on channel 22, the Ferris Channel, and channel 97 locally.

Last weekend when the Bulldogs traveled to Mankato to take on the Mavericks, both games were televised, and the town took advantage.

Cranker’s Brewery, the Gate, and Shooters all aired the game on Friday, Jan. 17 for customers.

Cranker’s was packed full during the Friday game, and on a night that was supposed to be open mic, more bar-goers seemed tuned in to the game.

Raucous cheers erupted from the bar when junior forward T.J. Schlueter scored the Bulldogs first goal of the evening to cut the Maverick’s lead to 2-1.

Both games have a 7:07 puck drop slated in the schedule.
