T.J. Miller to perform at Ferris

Homecoming committee books nationally touring comedians

Ferris is about to get a little goofier for homecoming week as T.J. Miller is set to headline the Homecoming Comedy Show alongside Jerrod Carmichael and Sarah Tiana.

The show will take place in Williams Auditorium on October 2 at 8 p.m.

“I’m really excited to be able to bring someone that people actually know,” Josh Olszewski, Comedian Chair of the Homecoming Committee and sophomore in music industry management and public relations said. “That’s a rewarding experience for me, knowing that people are going to enjoy it.

T.J. Miller is known for his roles in Cloverfield, She’s Out of My League, Transformers: Age of Extinction and the HBO television series Silicon Valley. Miller also hosts the popular podcast “Cashing In With T.J. Miller” and in 2011, released his first stand up special “No Real Reason.”

Jerrod Carmichael made his movie debut earlier this year in Neighbors. Sarah Tiana has appeared several times on Reno 911! and on Chelsea Lately.

As for the show itself, Olszewski wants students to get excited. “Everyone likes comedy and they’re all really good comedians. It’s free, just come out and have a good time.”

The show will take place in Williams Auditorium on October 2 at 8 p.m.

The Homecoming Comedy Show is planned by the Student Homecoming Committee. Ferris Students may attend free of charge due to funds allocated by the Finance Division of Student Government. Olszewski said his process to apply for funding was simple.

“First I did research on different comedians and then filled out some paperwork. After I budgeted everything out, I went to the Finance Division,” Olszewski said. “I was kind of nervous at first, but they seemed really excited about it. That was really relieving to me.”

Olszewski said more students should apply for funding when they have ideas that will benefit students. “It’s not that hard. [The Finance Division] will help you through every step of the way,” Olszewski said.
