Nationally ranked no. 13 Ferris State football beat Tiffin University 68-20 to move to 6-0 and 5-0 in the GLIAC where they’re tied for first.
The blowout began when Ferris scored five times in the first quarter, four of them coming via the legs of redshirt freshmen running back Jahaan Brown.
Brown finished the first quarter with 212 yards rushing and didn’t see the field again as the Bulldogs lead 35-6 after one quarter of play.
Meanwhile, redshirt junior quarterback Jason VanderLaan was busy tossing three touchdowns on 211 yards through the air in the first half. VanderLaan also rushed for 123 yards and two touchdowns, before head coach Tony Annese removed his starters at halftime.
The Bulldogs finished the first half with 558 total yards of offense, and just topped the all-time school record for offense in a single game with 767 yards, six more than they had in their season opener against McKendree.
Ferris is set to play undefeated nationally ranked no. 8 Ohio Dominican in Columbus, Ohio on October 18. The Panthers defeated Hillsdale College 9-3 while Ferris was playing Tiffin.
