Ferris State hockey senior Justin Buzzeo inked a deal with the Gwinnett Gladiators of the East Coast Hockey League (ECHL) on Saturday.
The 25-year-old forward from Windsor, Ontario is headed to Georgia to play with the Gladiators, the ECHL affiliate of the NHL Arizona Coyotes. Buzzeo has already made an impact for the Gladiators, scoring a goal and assisting on another in his first two games for the team.
In his senior season at Ferris State, Buzzeo posted 22 points, coming on 9 goals and 13 assists for the Bulldogs. His best season came during the 2013-2014 season when Buzzeo scored 14 goals and had 18 assists for 32 points on the Bulldogs trip to a Western Collegiate Hockey Association (WCHA) championship.
Buzzeo was also a freshman on the Ferris State squad when they reached the National Championship game in the 2011-2012 season.
The Gladiators currently sit at the bottom of their division in the ECHL with a record of 18-43-6 on the season.
Buzzeo is one of three Ferris seniors to have signed a professional hockey deal. Goalie CJ Motte signed with the Bridgeport Sound Tigers of the American Hockey League (AHL) and defenseman Jason Binkley inked a deal with the ECHL South Carolina Stingrays on March 25.
