The Ferris State hockey team has been getting help all season long from team captain Kyle Schempp.

Schempp, a junior forward from Saginaw, contributed again in a big way last weekend against Alaska-Anchorage. In the first game of a two game series, the Bulldogs won in overtime on a game winning goal by Schempp. The goal was his fourth of the season.

Schempp also tallied his seventh assist of the season on a Simon Denis goal during the second period of play. He has 11 points on the season, which is good enough for third overall on the team behind junior forward Gerald Mayhew and freshman forward Corey Mackin.

Schempp is also part of the National Hockey League’s (NHL) New York Islanders organization as he was drafted in the sixth round, 155th overall in the 2014 NHL entry draft.

Schempp will look to tack on some more points for the Bulldogs this weekend in a home matchup against the Alaska Nanooks. The puck will drop at 7:07 p.m. on both Friday, Nov. 20 and Saturday, Nov. 21 at Ewigleben Ice Arena in Big Rapids.
