Sweep, sweep, sweep
The Ferris State men’s tennis team took advantage of the weekend as they walked away victorious in all three matches.
On Friday, Feb. 19 and Saturday, Feb. 20, the team got the shut out with two 9-0 victories against Salem International and St. Joseph’s (Ind.). The following day the Bulldogs pulled off a 7-2 win, losing once in doubles and once in singles.
The Dawgs are back home next weekend on Saturday, Feb. 27 at 10 a.m. in the Ferris Racquet and Fitness Center.
Hit and miss
The Ferris State women’s tennis team were able to start the weekend off right on Friday, Feb. 19 against Salem International and got the 9-0 win.
The team got shocked by Lewis on Sunday, Feb. 21 as the Lady Bulldogs lost 4-5. The top of the lineup took most of the damage for the Bulldogs, as Ferris lost at No. 1, No. 2 and No. 3 singles along with No. 1 and No. 2 doubles.
The Lady Bulldogs will be back in action on Saturday, Feb. 27 against Southern Indiana at 3 p.m. and Sunday, Feb. 28 against Aquinas at 2 p.m. in the Ferris Racquet and Fitness Center.
Running with pride
Ferris State University has a good group as they finished with quite a lot of top place finishes.
The Ferris State track and field team finished with 19 top-10 performances as Ferris had an excellent showing at the Grand Valley Tune-Up meet last Friday, Feb. 19.
Damonta Madden had an exceptional day as he won the men’s 60-meter dash and the 200-meter dash.
The team will be in Tiffin, Ohio next weekend as the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) Championship meet takes place.
Tough road to the playoffs
The Ferris State men’s basketball team didn’t achieve what they wanted to this week as they dropped both games against Hillsdale and Saginaw Valley State University.
The Bulldogs weren’t able to get anything going in their loss on Thursday, Feb. 18 as the loss turned into a one-sided affair. The Bulldogs lost 88-70 and fell on Saturday, Feb. 20 against Saginaw Valley 88-79.
Against SVSU, the Dawgs once led by 16 points but the Cardinals fought back and took home the victory.
As the GLIAC tournament approaches, the Bulldogs will be back in action looking to secure either the fourth or fifth spot in the tournament.
Ferris will play Thursday, Feb. 25 against Grand Valley State in Allendale at 8 p.m.
End of the Season
The Ferris State women’s basketball team lost both games this weekend and have one more game left to finish off a disappointing season.
The Lady Bulldogs lost on Thursday, Feb. 18 against Hillsdale 74-63. The team followed with a loss on Saturday, Feb. 20 against the Saginaw Valley State Cardinals 90-57.
The Dawgs will finish their season at Grand Valley State in Allendale, Michigan this Thursday, Feb. 25 at 6 p.m.
