FSU alert system triggered after assault near Business Building

UPDATE, 9:40 a.m. 2/24/16 – On Tuesday evening at approximately 7 p.m., an unknown white male in his early 20’s wearing black pants and a black hoodie allegedly grabbed the arm of a female student and refused to let go. The victim was walking near the Business Building when she was assaulted.

Several eyewitnesses in the area told him to release the female before he finally did. The female victim is unharmed and safe according to a university report, but the individual accused of assault is not in police custody and still at large.

UPDATE, 10:18 p.m. 2/23/16 – DPS confirmed that the individual accused of assault has not been apprehended. He is currently still at large.

The FSU Emergency Alert was broadcasted across email and text message at 9:32 p.m. alerting students and faculty to an assault that allegedly occurred near the Business Building on Tuesday night. An unknown male standing approximately 6-feet tall wearing a black hoodie and black pants allegedly grabbed a female student near South and State St. The female victim is reportedly okay, according to a university message.

The Ferris State Department of Public Safety (DPS) would not confirm whether or not the individual accused of assault was still at large at 10 p.m.

DPS asks that any tips regarding the case be reported to (231) 591-5000.
