Going the distance for the debate

Torch heads to Detroit to cover Republican debate live

131 SOUTH, MI – Once upon a time, three student journalists embarked on a 210-minute drive just to witness an argument.

This trip may sound ludicrous, but it is exactly what myself and two of my fellow Torch staff members are doing. Now is a good time go mention that the argument is on a grand stage in Detroit’s Fox Theatre, and the arguers are Republican candidates with presidential aspirations.

Donald Trump, Ted Cruz, Marco Rubio and John Kasich will be squaring off on the debate stage tonight at 9 p.m., just days before Michigan’s primary election on Tuesday, March 8.

We want to cover every angle of the presidential race – the good, the bad and the ugly. The applause, the boos and the protests. The candidates, the public and the media.

So we will be battling with Fox News reporters for elbow room as we record sound bites and update our Twitter feed. We’ll be standing in the streets interviewing protestors and promoters. We’ll be doing anything we can to capture the atmosphere and insanity of the race to the presidency.

You can follow the madness with us by staying tuned to fsutorch.com for live, continuous updates throughout the debate.
