Barcelona, Spain

On Aug. 17, King Felipe VI of Spain held a tribunal ceremony for the anniversary of a terrorist attack in Barcelona, when a van swerved down a famous Barcelona boulevard, killing 16 people and injuring more than 100. The ceremony included a flower laying and religious readings.

Beijing, China

The Chinese government fired 10 officials from the China Food and Drug Administration and punished dozens more after faulty vaccines
were administered to children across the country. Hundreds of thousands of children were given faulty vaccines for diphtheria, tetanus and whooping cough.
