Ferris Faculty Association ordered to end strike

Court order requires professors to return to class

Classes are to continue Tuesday, Aug. 28 after the strike of the Ferris Faculty Association (FFA) was halted by a court order.

According to a university-wide notice, Ferris filed a temporary restraining order and preliminary injunction against the FFA, which was granted by the Mecosta County Circuit Court Monday, Aug. 27. The motion required FFA members to end their strike and return to class the following day.

A contract agreement between the FFA and the university has yet to be met. FFA members will continue to picket Tuesday in Big Rapids and Grand Rapids. The picketing will occur around the professors’ class schedules.

Contract negotiations will begin again Wednesday, Aug. 29.
