Ferris volleyball has advanced to the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) Tournament Championship for the fifth-straight season.
The No. 6 nationally ranked Bulldogs continued their dominant streak, posting their fifth-straight sweep with a 3-0 victory over the Saginaw Valley State University Cardinals in the GLIAC Tournament Semifinals Friday, Nov. 9.
The Bulldogs earned the sweep with a close 25-21 victory in the first set, followed by two back-to-back victories of 25-14. Ferris brought in a total of 31 kills and 86 attacks through those three sets.
Ferris junior outside hitter and First Team All-GLIAC selection Allyson Cappel recorded a team-high of 14 kills, adding 37 total attacks and 10 digs.
Ferris senior outside hitter and Second Team All-GLIAC selection Courtney Brewer got some of the spotlight, following behind Cappel with 13 kills and 37 attacks. Brewer now has 21 kills and 716 total attacks on the season.
Another First Team All GLIAC selection, Ferris junior setter Maeve Grimes, was also a big help for the Bulldogs, bringing in 40 assists and four kills. Grimes now has 1,165 assists on the season.
The No. 1 seeded Bulldogs improve to 25-4 on the year.
The Bulldogs will face the No. 6 seed Davenport University 4 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 10, at Ewigleben Sports Complex.
