Bulldogs running to National Title
For the rst time in school history, two Ferris cross country runners have been selected to represent the Bulldogs in the NCAA DII National Championship race in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.
Ferris junior Katie Etelamaki and senior Damien Halverson have the chance to be part of school history as they will both make the trip to Pennsylvania Saturday, Dec. 1.
Both runners earned Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) honors Nov. 3 in an event in Grand Rapids. Both runners also finished as all-region honorees during the NCAA DII Midwest Regional Championships at Hillsdale College.
Etelamaki earned her National Championship bid as she automatically qualified placing sixth in the women’s 6K race. Halverson was chosen at large after he finished seventh overall in the men’s 10K race.
The men’s race begins at 11 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 1, with the women’s race following at 12:15 p.m.

Heilman is a graduate from Central Michigan University (CMU), where she earned her Bachelor of Applied Arts degree and her Master of Arts in Sports Administration. Heilman was also a CMU Athletics Intern where she helped with game management and event operations, preparing her well for her new position.
