What fans need to know about getting to the national championship game

For the dedicated Ferris fans who want to make the trip to see the football team make history in the NCAA Division II National Championship, the trip is planned out for them.

Ferris will be sending fan buses to McKinney, Texas, that leave 7 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 13. Ticket sales for the bus start 10 a.m. Monday, Dec. 10 and go until 5 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 11, or until they are sold out.

For Ferris students, the game tickets and bus transportation are free. Tickets for non-students are $25 and bus transportation for non-students is $50. Hotel rooms are at the Holiday Inn Express and Suites, which is 3.1 miles from the stadium. Room options range from one person for $240 to six people for $40 each. All fans will be responsible for their own meals.

All traveling fans will have to fill out waivers with contact and emergency information, and one person per room will have to provide a credit card when they check-in at the hotel for incidentals. Students who live on campus may need to make special arrangements with housing to pick up their belongings when they return, as the buses will not get back until 3 to 4 a.m. Monday, Dec. 17.

According to the tentative travel itinerary, fans will arrive in McKinney around 3 p.m. Friday, Dec. 14, and after time to check-in, there will be a trip to Tupps Brewery “Fan Fest” at 6 p.m. Fans will be transported to a pre-game reception 1 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 15, and then to the field at 2 p.m. The buses will begin their journey back to Big Rapids 7 a.m. Sunday, Dec. 16, and plan to make the trip in around 20 hours.
