Just chill out, man

March 6, 10:45 p.m., officers were dispatched to Henderson Hall for two disorderly subjects. Both were male non-students in a room being disruptive; one was intoxicated and the other was not. The intoxicated male was charged with disorderly conduct and resisting an officer and went to jail. The other male has pending charges for disorderly conduct and resisting an officer, as well. The two males were visiting a female student, who has been referred to the Office of Student Conduct for her role in the incident. The two males are trespassed from campus and are no longer allowed back on campus.

That doesn’t add up

March 10, 4:33 p.m., a student noticed that his credit card was being used in Florida, but the last time he used it was at the South Admiral Gas Station in Big Rapids. The city police also had a similar case where the person had used his credit card at the same gas station and his card was also being used in Florida. The investigation is still open.

Keep it in your pants

March 11, 7:22 a.m., a professor overheard two females talking about a male subject exposing himself to one of them. One of the girls does not want police involvement and said it was a joke. Officers are currently investigating it and are going to make contact with the accused subject.

Straight line test never fails

March 11, 11:31 p.m., someone called in and reported there was a driver all over the road. Officers conducted a traffic stop at the McDonald’s and made contact with a female student who appeared to be under the influence of marijuana. After failing a sobriety test, she was arrested and blood was drawn to determine the source of her intoxication. She was then lodged in Mecosta County jail for operating under the influence of drugs.

Watch out for the street lights

March 13, 2:15 p.m., someone originally called in a malicious destruction of property, but it now appears that somebody ran off the road and hit one of the light poles on State Street and broke the pole off. No car parts or evidence were at the scene.

Narcs are everywhere

March 18, 10:37 p.m., officers responded to McNerney Hall where a student believed her suitemate was smoking marijuana. The suspected smoker was not home and no contact was made. Suitemate was referred to the Office of Student Conduct.

Please be nice

March 21, 2 p.m. a student from Hallisy Hall reported being harassed by two other students in the hall. The investigation is still open.

Not acceptable here

March 21, 4:40 p.m. a student was assaulted by her non-student boyfriend in Cardinal Court, which migrated to Lot 54. The victim walked to the Ferris Department of Public Safety right after the assault to report it and officers were able to see it on surveillance video. The victim’s injuries were consistent with her story and what was seen on video. Officers saw the suspect driving his vehicle, made a traffic stop and arrested him for assault. The subject confirmed the victim’s account of the incident and was lodged in Mecosta County jail on domestic violence charges and was trespassed from campus as well.

Ferris Department of Safety issued 371 citations between March 17 and March 21 totaling $6,350.
