Ferris State hockey head coach Bob Daniels announced his plans to retire following the conclusion of the 2024-25 season.

Daniels is the longest-tenured coach in Ferris State’s history, as he has worked with the program for 36 years and served as bench boss for 33.

A Ferris State Athletics press release announced the retirement decision on Tuesday afternoon.

“When I came to Ferris State University in 1989, I never imagined being here 36 years later,” Daniels said in the release. “I feel extremely blessed to have worked at such an outstanding institution with such wonderful people. It’s been an honor and privilege to serve as coach.

The long-time coach notched his 500th career win earlier this season with a win over Lake Superior State University. Daniels holds an all-time record of 503-619-116 (.406 winning percentage) in his over three-decade career.

With Daniels’ last day as coach set for May 31, a national search for the Bulldogs’ seventh coach in program history will ensue.

With 503 wins under his belt through his award-winning 33-year career, Daniels ranks in the top 10 active coaches in NCAA DI hockey.

Daniels’ career will be honored at a future home game later in the season.
