Grace Heethuis – Freelance Reporter

My name is Grace Heethuis, I am a junior at Ferris and I am 19 years old. I am an English major, so it shouldn’t come as a surprise that I love to write. I have written poetry for close to ten years and have been writing other genres since I was five years old. I have lived in Big Rapids my whole life, but eventually, I think I might like to live somewhere warmer. In my free time, you would normally find me spending time with my husband, Jackson, and our mini dachshund, Willow. When I’m not doing that, I am usually writing somewhere, sitting in a coffee shop, or both. I have a little bit of an obsession with sweaters, and I am almost always wearing one if it’s not warm. Other than writing, I love to read. My favorite thing to read is poetry, and my favorite poet is Whitney Hansen. I have written a poetry book myself, called “Someday I Might Know.” Some things I really enjoy are discussing genetics, having philosophical conversations with my best friends, talking about names, being around kids, and serving at my church.
