Five days removed from their lowest scoring output of the season, the Bulldogs women’s basketball team bounced back to defeat the Purdue Northwest Pride by a score of 118-74.
The Bulldogs (18-8, 12-5 in GLIAC) rained down threes all game, shooting 42% (18-43) while also being a controlling force on the glass, outrebounding the Pride (5-20, 2-15 in GLIAC) 53 to 30.
Junior guard Mia Riley was a general on the court, setting a career-high in points with 31, while also tallying six rebounds and seven assists. Riley credited her teammates for helping her eclipse the 30-point mark.
“My teammates,” Riley said. “They’re always so supportive and they give me every opportunity. They always let me know what is open and help me know what to look for.”
Four other Bulldogs reached double figures in the win as well, including a 21-point performance from junior forward Mya Hiram.
Ferris managed to take advantage of the Pride on the defensive end, totaling 22 takeaways on the day while scoring 25 points off of turnovers.

Head coach Kurt Westendorp had nothing but praise for his team following the victory.
“I thought the girls played with a ton of energy,” Westendorp said. “I thought we did a really good job of getting up and down the court in transition and that really opened up some really easy shots for us. Scoring 118 points on the day, you have got to be getting some easy looks.”
Ferris has not lost to the Pride since Feb. 19, 2021, as they marked their ninth straight win against the conference rival tonight.
The Bulldogs will look to secure another win in their final regular season home game this Saturday, Feb. 22 at 1 p.m. against the Wisconsin-Parkside Rangers. Ferris defeated the Rangers in a narrow 75-69 win earlier this year.
