As someone who loves writing, I can confidently say it is part of who I am.
I developed my love for writing during my freshman year of high school. I got inspired to write after I watched my first Western movie, “The Magnificent Seven,” from 1960. I was amazed by the storyline because, at the time, I hadn’t seen anything like it. After watching it, I thought I should write my own western story.

Back in 2019, in 10 months, I wrote 10 stories that followed the same plot, and I was able to turn my work into a complete novel. Since then, I knew that writing would become a lifelong passion of mine.
As of today, I am currently writing my first-ever sports novel. It is called “Jason Saunders: The One-Armed Superstar.” It follows the story of Jason Saunders, a boy born without his left arm. Through his family, he develops a love for basketball and strives to play on his high school team.
Even though I want to write many more novels in the future, I believe that this will be one of the greatest stories I will ever write. I want this to be the first novel I publish publicly.
I truly believe that writing can bring a lot of happiness and joy to people. I know that it has done that for me. I encourage every one of you to write some more during your free time. Find some time during the day or night to write a little bit.
As someone who’s done it, I will be the first to tell you that writing a complete novel is not easy. It is very fun to do, but it takes a lot of work and dedication. I understand that not everyone can sit down and write a book, and that is okay.
You don’t even have to write stories. You can use writing to reflect on your day and express your thoughts and emotions. Feel free to buy a journal and write about something like, “My day was great because this happened,” or “I didn’t have the best day, but I will try to make tomorrow a better day,” and develop that into a daily habit.
You can also write short stories and tell a complete story in just a few pages. Doing that can help you learn about all the elements of creating a strong, cohesive story.
But if you want to write a novel, my advice is to draft it. Anytime I have an idea or start writing, I draft. I go to my notes app to write down plots, characters, chapter ideas and more. This strategy helps me avoid writer’s block and organize my thoughts conveniently.
If you want to jump straight into writing, that works, but it doesn’t hurt to jot down your ideas. You never know what kind of stories you’ll think of.
According to bolton.ac.uk, writing can allow you to unwind and de-stress. You can use it as a self-care method. And writing about tough times can help express feelings healthily. Writing about difficult times still means you’re talking about it. You don’t have to verbally express your thoughts to get your point across. These are psychological benefits of not just creative writing but writing in general.
I truly hope I have inspired you to try something new or to write a little bit more.
