Four players from Long Island University joined the Bulldogs through the transfer portal alongside their former head coach Brett Riley on Thursday, April 3.
Just three days removed from Riley being introduced as Ferris’ new head coach, four of his former players seek a new opportunity with the Bulldogs in the 2025-26 season.
Ferris added Long Island’s leading scorer, sophomore forward Carter Rapalje in the process. The Vermont native led the Sharks in goals last season with 17, while tallying 13 assists in 34 games (17-13–30).
Junior forward Riley Wallack also joined the Bulldogs roster. Wallack appeared in just 14 games for Long Island last season, yet he earned 11 points in the campaign (6-5–11).
The third and final forward uniting with Ferris is junior Josh Zary. The forward hails from British Columbia and he secured 19 points for the Sharks in 29 appearances (12-7–19).
The Bulldogs gained a defenseman in the exchange, as junior Valtteri Piironen joined the team. Piironen tallied 12 points (1-11–12) in 34 games while leading the team in blocks with 61.
Despite the new additions, Ferris saw freshman goaltender Connor McDonough enter the portal on the same night. McDonough started just one outing for the Bulldogs and was pulled in the first period.
