The NLE Choppa concert has officially been canceled for the academic year.
The rapper was supposed to perform on campus on April 8, but Entertainment Unlimited had posted that the concert was postponed.
Entertainment Unlimited Advisor Ben Avery explained the situation that they had faced.
“We were very disappointed that NLE Choppa canceled the show due to illness,” Avery said. “The spring concert is a highlight of the year for many students, but we respect that the artist wanted to be healthy so Ferris State students can see him at his best. We wish him a speedy recovery.”
Entertainment Unlimited has no replacement and decided to cancel the concert instead.
Ferris is not the only college that NLE Choppa has canceled on. Eastern Tennessee State University had to replace NLE Choppa due to cancellation according to the Eastern Tennessean.
Ferris Alumnus Jhordan Rush was disappointed that there was no replacement.
“It’s unfortunate that the concert got canceled,” Rush said. “I wish we could have found a good replacement, but you know everything happens for a reason.”
The spring concert is typically held at the beginning of April and is free for the community, with students getting early admission.
General studies junior Markel King expressed disappointment in the cancelation.
“Personally, I think that would have been a good for the campus,” King said. “ Get everybody out, and it’s unfortunate that it got cancelled.”
Students who wanted to see NLE Choppa for free at Ferris may still have the opportunity, according to Avery.
“We continue to work with NLE Choppa’s team about potentially rescheduling a show for the next academic year,” Avery said. “We’ll keep students updated when we have something we can share.”
Entertainment Unlimited is still planning on putting on its final annual event, Spring Fling, on May 1.
