Not drunk, just high
Aug. 24, 12:59 a.m. – Ferris State University police stopped a vehicle after failure to stop at a sign located on Ives Avenue in Big Rapids. The driver showed signs of impairment and refused a breathalyzer test. Officers found evidence of drug use in the vehicle and the driver was arrested for Operating While Intoxicated/Operating with the Presence of Drugs. The individual was housed at the Mecosta County Jail and blood analysis is pending.

No license, big problem
Aug. 24, 1:19 a.m. – Officers stopped a vehicle on South State Street for failure to signal and other driving concerns. The driver did not possess a valid license, did not provide proof of insurance and was unable to get a licensed driver to the scene. The individual was issued an appearance ticket, and the vehicle was towed and impounded.

Down the drain
Aug. 22, 7:00 p.m. – An RA conducting rounds in a campus resident hall discovered alcohol and a drinking game in a student’s room. The resident was under the legal drinking age and voluntarily disposed of the alcohol with the RA present. The incident was documented, and no further alcohol was found in the room.
