With college hockey naming its national champion in Denver on Saturday, this marks the start of the 2025-26 offseason. Seven Ferris State hockey players have already entered the transfer portal since then.
Outgoing players
Carter Rapalje (Forward)- Committed to Bemidji State University
After following head coach Brett Riley from Long Island, where he had 17 goals and 30 points with four game-winning goals. Rapalje had a strong season with the Bulldogs, having 11 goals, nine assists, and 20 total points this past season.
Logan Heroux (Defenseman)
It was announced on Monday morning that Heroux had entered the transfer portal. In his time with the Bulldogs, Heroux had three goals, 15 assists, and 18 total points.
Jack Silich (Forward)
In two seasons with Ferris State, Silich had six goals, six assists, and 12 total points, with his strongest performance coming on Nov 22 this past season, where he had one goal and one assist.
Tanner Rowe (Forward)
After two seasons with Michigan where he saw action in 46 games with one goal and 10 blocked shots, Rowe transferred to Ferris before the 2025-26 season. In 27 games with Ferris, Rowe had one goal, three assists and four total points.
Jacob Badal (Forward)
With four seasons under his belt in the crimson and gold, Badal has decided to enter the portal. He saw his most action in 2024-25 where he had four goals, six assists, and 10 total points. In 2025-26 he had one goal, one assist, and two total points, with his lone goal coming in a 4-2 loss against Miami of Ohio on Dec 29.
Kade Turner (Defenseman)
In his two seasons with the Bulldogs, Turner had one goal, two assists, and three points before entering the portal. His lone goal as a Bulldog came On January 18, 2025 against Bowling Green, which helped the Bulldogs secure a 4-3 victory that day.
Conner Brown (Defenseman)- Committed to Long Island University
Before joining Ferris, Brown had 107 games with the Janesville Jets of the NAHL, where ha had 15 goals, 78 assists, and 93 total points. After playing in 16 games his first season at Ferris, Brown only saw action in one game in the 2025-26 season. In the 2024-25 season Brown had two goals and two points.
Incoming players
Luke Coughlin (Defenseman)- University of Maine
On April 15 it was announced that the first player transferring to the Bulldogs would be defenseman Luke Coughlin. Coming off a season with the University of Maine where he did not see much playing time. Playing in 10 games where he logged just two assists for two points. Before this, he spent four seasons with the Rimouski Oceanic “A” of the QMJHL where he had a productive tenure. Coughlin played in 188 games, had 15 goals, 68 assists, and 83 total points.
Owen Mehlenbacher (Center)- University of Massachusetts
The second player transferring to Ferris State for the second year head coach Brett Riley is UMass transfer Owen Mehlenbacher. Before his college career even started, Mehlenbacher was drafted with the 201st pick in the seventh round of the 2022 NHL Draft by the Detroit Red Wings after spending three seasons with the Muskegon Lumberjacks of the USHL. He then joined the University of Wisconsin and spent two seasons, where he played in 51 games, with five goals, and five assists for 10 points. Then he transferred to UMass before the 2025-26 season, with the Minutemen he played in 32 games where he had three goals, six assists, and nine points.
