It is with a heavy heart that I have decided not to return as the Culture Editor for the Torch next year. While I’m so excited to graduate in December, I will unfortunately have to have a lot on my plate to get there.

I have enjoyed this season so much, and it has been such an honor to hold this position. Culture should be a place where every voice is heard, and everyone feels safe between these pages. My hope for the next culture editor is to move forward with the same spirit, shaping the culture section to represent everyone at Ferris well. I hope it will always be what I have always viewed as the heart of our paper, for its diverse, energetic nature.
While my time as the Culture Editor has ended, I do plan to stay on staff as a freelance reporter, which means you will still see my articles at least once per month. It’s not what I had hoped for, but as I step into my new role as a mother, I have to dial back on some things. My family will always come first, but the Torch has a special place in my heart.
I am confident whoever is chosen to step into this role next will excel and keep the spirit of the section alive.
