Hugh Ryan Author Talk: Hear author Hugh Ryan discuss his novel, “When Brooklyn Was Queer,” 7 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 1, in University Center 116. The event will be hosted by the LGBTQ+ Resource Center in honor of LGBTQ+ History Month. Ryan will answer questions and sign copies of his book, which will be available for sale. The Incredible 5,000-Mile Journey of Saul Flores: In honor of Latinx Heritage Month, hear Saul Flores speak about the dangerous journey of immigration 7 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 3, in UC 202. Flores walked 5,328 miles through 10 countries to show how dangerous immigration can be, and in the process, he raised money for a Mexican elementary school. He will be speaking of his trek and showing pictures of the people, communities and cultures he saw during it. The event will be hosted by Sigma Lambda Beta, the Office of Multicultural Student Services, the Hispanic Student Organization, the Center for Latin@ Studies and Spanish faculty.
