Top athletes of the 2024-25 season

Men’s Teams

Football- Trinidad Chambliss

Chambliss was the general for the Bulldogs’ offense that pounded its way to Ferris’ third national championship in the last four years. After taking full control of the Bulldogs’ offense after a plethora of injuries, Chambliss passed for 2,925 yards and 26 touchdowns while adding 1,019 yards on the ground with 25 touchdowns. During this past season, Chambliss was a finalist for the Harlon Hill Trophy, earned the GLIAC Player of the Year, and was a first-team All-American.

Basketball- Ethan Erickson

Erickson was an outstanding player on a Bulldogs team that went 25-9 but lost in the NCAA DII Midwest Region Quarterfinal to Missouri-St. Louis. The 6’0 senior started all 34 games for Ferris, he averaged 16.4 points per game, which was good for seventh in the GLIAC, while sitting in third in the GLIAC for three-point percentage with .384. Erickson was also selected to play in the NABC D2 All-Star Game.

Hockey- Caiden Gault

Gault was the offensive standout for the Bulldogs this past season. The junior forward totaled 25 points, 15 goals, which was fifth in the CCHA, while also totaling 10 assists. Gault also earned a nomination for the Hobey Baker Award.

Tennis- Alessandro Santagelo

Santagelo was the leading man on a Bulldogs tennis squad that is making a run to the NCAA DII Midwest Regional for the 10th consecutive year in a row. The lone senior on the squad won 18 matches on the year while also picking up All-GLIAC First Team honors for singles play and also claimed the GLIAC Sportsmanship Award.

Golf- McCoy Biagioli

The sophomore from White Lake was a huge reason his squad punched its ticket to the NCAA Tournament for the 20th time in the last 22 years. Biagioli had 4 top 10 finishes during the season, including a top 3 finish at the Bulldog Fall Classic.

Track and Field- Devin Dennison 

Dennison was the top man for the Bulldogs this season, who notched their best effort in the GLIAC Championship in almost two decades. Dennison did work during the championship, as he earned runner-up honors in the hammer throw (193-6) while also being third in the discus toss (159-1).

Cross Country- Cooper Sorsen

For a squad that made a run to the NCAA DII Midwest Regional, Sorsen was a big reason for it. As throughout the season, the junior had three top ten finishes, including a top finish at the Ray Helsing Bulldog Invitational in which he ran a 25:51.24 in the 8k meter.

Women’s Teams

Basketball- Mia Riley

Riley stepped up big time in her first year as a starter for the Bulldogs. She helped bring the Bulldogs to the Midwest Regional Quarterfinal, which saw them lose to the Ashland Eagles, but Riley still dropped 19 points in the game. The junior guard sat fourth in the GLIAC in points per game with 14.5, averaged 3.1 assists per game, and 2.9 steals per game, which was good for second in the GLIAC, while being honored with All-GLIAC First Team.

Volleyball- Olivia Henneman-Dallape

Henneman-Dallape was the centerpiece of a historic Bulldogs team, which saw them go 34-0 in the regular season and make a run to the NCAA DII Elite Eight Quarterfinals but fell to Bentley University. The now-graduate Henneman-Dallape led the GLIAC in kills per set with 4.18, while also leading the GLIAC in points per set with 4.81. Henneman-Dallape also secured the American Volleyball Coaches Association National Player of the Year, being the first Bulldog ever to do so, and secured AVCA All-America First Team Honors.

Softball- Alexis Kozlowski

The sophomore first baseman from Gaylord had yet another impressive season for a Bulldogs squad that punched their ticket to the NCAA Midwest Regional for the first time since 2013. Kozlowski hit an impressive .366 with a .980 on-base percentage while slugging four home runs with 41 RBIs, while also walking more than she struck out with 16 walks to only 10 strikeouts. Kozlowski also secured NFCA All-Region first team honors, being one of three GLIAC players this year to do so, and she also earned First Team All-GLIAC honors.

Soccer-Katherine Welch

Welch was the standout player on a Bulldogs squad that had somewhat of a down year, losing to Davenport in the GLIAC tournament quarterfinal. The sophomore forward had five goals, six assists and 16 total points, which was good for fifth in the GLIAC. Welch also earned All-GLIAC First Team honors.

Tennis- Ana Sofia Hernandez Ferrer

The senior from Mazatlán, Mexico, had an impressive season for the Bulldogs team that saw them secure their 23rd all-time tournament bid. The older twin of Maria Fernanda earned 17 wins in both singles and doubles, but she excelled in singles play, as she earned All-GLIAC First Team honors for singles play.

Golf- Kamryn Shannon 

Shannon was a part of a Bulldogs golf squad that advanced to the NCAA DII National Championships for the first time in 16 years. The junior from Jackson was a huge reason for this, as she had six top 10 finishes across the season, which included her first collegiate win during the Bulldog Fall Classic.

Track and Field- Abigail Winkle

Winkle was one of the top runners for the Bulldogs this season, as she has placed her name in the record books multiple times this season, becoming second all-time in school history in the 400-meter, running a 56.71. The junior Winkle also won the 400-meter in the Grand Valley State Extra Weekend Meet by running a 56.55, which was good for fifth all-time in Ferris history.

Cross Country- Hanna Brock

The senior from Big Rapids was arguably the top runner for Ferris this season, as her squad punched its ticket to the NCAA DII Midwest Regional. Brock placed 12th during the women’s 6k for the GLIAC Championships, but her best finish was at the Louisville Classic in which she placed fourth in the women’s 5k, running a 18:18.4.
