After spending the last year in the position of sports editor and being named Co-Editor-In-Chief earlier this month, I will be looking to continue to grow our sports section. Sports at Ferris is always changing, and at the Torch, we have the role of getting the news for athletics out to our readers the best we can, without bias.
Over the past year, I believe we did a great job of providing our readers with great previews, athlete features, and same-day reporting. I would like to continue this, but adding in the aspect of the Big Rapids community. With feature stories focused on some athletes from not just Ferris, but from Big Rapids High School. With the changes forthcoming to moving to online exclusively, I believe we can harp on same-day reporting, with timely articles being posted after big matchups.
I believe this past year was a success, but we’re not done just yet. We will continue to do what we do well and strive to grow and develop.
