Last year 1,825 Ferris students received “Promise” funds and 96,000 students are eligible statewide. Lawmakers cut the funding in an effort to reduce the $2.8 billion dollar deficit. Governor Jennifer Granholm is not expected to take any action to re-instate the funds, leaving some students to find alternative sources to pay for their education.
