The Ferris State hockey team improved its unbeaten streak to 12 games in conference play with a sweep of Notre Dame.
Five different players scored for the Bulldogs as they outshot the Fighting Irish 31-20 in a 5-2 victory on Saturday. Junior forward Mike Embach recorded a goal and two assist for Ferris. Four other players added two points in the victory.
The Bulldogs completed the sweep Jan. 10 with a 4-2 comeback victory. Ferris trailed 2-1 at the end of the first period, but scored the games’ final three goals. Senior captain Cody Chupp tallied a goal and assist.
With the victories, Ferris moves into a first-place tie with Miami in the CCHA standings. The Bulldogs are 16-4-2 overall and 10-2-2-2 in conference play. Nationally No. 1-ranked Miami was swept by non-conference opponent Robert Morris University over the weekend.
Ferris hosts Miami this weekend at Ewigleben Ice Arena in Big Rapids in a critical CCHA series matchup. The Bulldogs defeated the RedHawks in back-to-back shootouts earlier this season, but both the Bulldogs and the Redhawks were awarded a single point for each game tied with an additional point for the Bulldogs for each shootout won.
