“Shadows of the Lynching Tree”

On March 17 the Office of Multicultural Student Services presents the viewing of the documentary “Shadows of the Lynching Tree” with producer and director Carvin Eison. The movie looks into the heart of hatred, violence, and hope. The event will take place from 6 to 8 p.m. in IRC 120. Managing Health and Wellness Seminar

The Society for Human Resource Management presents a health and wellness seminar hosted by Andrea Wrobel. The guest speaker is Ferris dietician Brenda Walton who will speak on having healthier eating habits. The event will take place on March 18 from 11 to 11:50 a.m. in BUS 316. Reception: “The Abstract and the Profound”

“The Abstract and the Profound” exhibit features paintings, prints, and drawings from Molly Alicki-Corriveau, Elizabeth Crank, Lynette Vought, and Carrie Weis. The Rankin Art Gallery will host a reception for the artists on March 18 from 5:30 to 7 p.m. The exhibit will be available until March 26. “That Ain’t No Way to Treat a Lady”

As part of Women’s History Month, a multimedia spoken-word performance by Nancy Hulse will take place on March 18 at 8 p.m. in the Rankin Center Dome Room. The event combines dance, dramatic performance, and pop music to address the issues of domestic violence against women. “Fashion and Hair Rocks”

You Beautiful Black Woman presents the twentieth annual fashion show titled “Fashion and Hair Rocks” on March 20 in Williams Auditorium. The night will be full of hair, fashion, and entertainment. Donations will be taken for the victims of Haiti and the S.T.A.R. Foundation. Special performances include Seventh and Flying Without Wings. Mock Beauty Pageant

The Diverse Sexuality and Gender Alliance presents a mock beauty pageant drag show on March 22 from 7 to 9 p.m. in the Rankin Center Dome Room. This is a charity event that will be collecting non-perishable food items. Each item equals one vote for a contestant. How to Become a “Five-Star” Workshop

The Student Leadership and Activities Office will be hosting a workshop designed to help student organizations understand how to become “Five-Star” organizations.
