Homecoming Bonfire
On Oct. 7, the homecoming bonfire will be taking place at 8 p.m. in Lot 61 by Brophy Hall. The event is sponsored by the Homecoming Committee and Sigma Pi Fraternity. The committee is asking that students wear their grooviest attire for this year’s ‘60s theme.
Homecoming Concert: Comedian Christian Finnegan
Christian Finnegan will be performing at Williams Auditorium on Oct. 8 as part of the homecoming festivities. The free show will be at 7:00 p.m. Finnegan has starred on VH1’s “Best Week Ever,” “Chappelle’s Show” and a Comedy Central stand-up special in 2005. Mature audiences only. 2010 Miss Black and Gold Scholarship Pageant

The Dedication of Helen’s Garden
On Oct. 9, the University Advancement and Marketing Committee will be dedicating the newly constructed gardens between Prakken and Alumni. Colloquium Series: Speaker Dr. Douglas Haneline
Dr. Haneline will be sharing his paper in progress, “The Future Ain’t What It Used to Be: English Studies in the 21st Century” on Oct. 12 in STR 130 from 11 – 11:50 a.m. Dr. Haneline will be discussing the future of English Studies and the value of a degree in the field. Speaker Dr. Yuri Maltsev, Former Economic Advisor to Gorbachev
Dr. Matsev will be discussing his experiences in Russia and other countries at two different sessions on Oct. 12. The first presentation will be from 11 a.m. – 12 p.m. in BUS 111, and the second presentation will be from 2 – 3 p.m. in FLITE 408. Some of his accomplishments include consulting on Eastern European economics and appearing on national television and radio programs.
