Alumni Association pumps up for FSU basketball

On Oct. 30 at 2 p.m., Ferris State University will be making a trip to the Breslin Center to take on in-state Division I rival Michigan State University in an exhibition men’s basketball contest.

A pre-game reception will be held in the Lincoln Room of the Kellogg Hotel and Conference Center in East Lansing from 12 to 2 p.m. anyone interested is welcome to join with fellow alumni.

Sexual Assault Recovery Group (SARG)

The Personal Counseling Center will be providing a weekly counseling support group for students who have experienced any type of sexual assault.

In this group, survivors are able to safely explore their wide range of emotions, feelings, behaviors and help themselves and one another in their search for self-understanding, more fulfilling interpersonal relationships and more positive enhanced lives.

This group is private, safe, and confidential. For more information, contact the Personal Counseling Center at ext. 5968.

Benefits Gala to support The Ferris Foundation

The Ferris Foundation is set to host its 13th annual Foundation for Excellence Benefit Gala at the JW Marriott in downtown Grand Rapids Friday, Nov. 4

The Gala Benefit is a way to support the mission of The Ferris Foundation as well as focus on how Ferris State University is impacting lives and strengthening Michigan’s future through education and outreach.

The event is set to begin at 5:30 p.m. with cocktails before dinner, with the commencement at 7 p.m. for this black-tie-preferred affair.

The Ferris Foundation is in its 20th year of providing scholarship assistance to many students who may be unable to afford a Ferris education by providing support for faculty study, exploration and service.

Individual seats are $250 per person. In addition to individual tickets, those interested in attending the Foundation for Excellence Benefit Gala can choose from a range of sponsorship levels. To purchase tickets, reserve a sponsorship or receive additional information, please contact Kim Erickson at ext. 2365 at The Ferris Foundation. Author Van Steenis to share career advice

On Oct. 27, author and recruiter bill Van Steenis will be speaking to students and faculty/staff about his 25 years of experience as a recruiter and the necessary skills needed in today’s workplace. He is the author of the book In Demand: How to get Hired, Develop a Career and Always be Successful.  Bill Van Steenis will speak about skills that will help you succeed in your career.  For more information, go to Mr. Van Steenis’ website at reexaminelife.com.

The event is from 11 – 11:50 a.m. for faculty and staff in IRC 120. The first 10 attendees will receive a free copy of In Demand.  Additional books will be available for sale for $10. Students are welcome to come from 6 – 7:30 p.m. in IRC 120. The first 40 attendees will also receive a free copy of Steenis’s book.
