The Lady Bulldogs tennis team faced off against Ashland University Oct. 26 for a first-round matchup during the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Tournament.
Ferris, which entered the tournament as the fourth overall seed, defeated the fifth seeded Ashland Eagles.
The match was up for grabs until Ferris’ junior Julia Fusik won her match in consecutive sets, 6-1 and 6-2. This win meant the Bulldogs would face the No. 1 ranked and undefeated Northwood University in the semifinals.
The Bulldogs could not build on their success, losing 5-0 to the Lady Timberwolves the following day, Oct. 27. The Lady Bulldogs hoped to regain their composure against their last opponent of the tournament versus Wayne State University in a third-place matchup on Sunday.
Sunday seemed to be a flashback of the day prior for the Bulldogs, losing handily 5-0 to Wayne State. Ferris wrapped up the conference season with an 11-7 overall record and 9-5 in GLIAC play. The Bulldogs will prepare over the winter offseason.
