Professor retires after 42 years at Ferris

Assistant Professor of Mathematics Roy Gifford is retiring after dedicating 42 years of service to the Ferris mathematics department.

On Thursday, Dec. 6, a ceremony to thank him for his service and congratulate him on his retirement will be held in the Arts and Sciences Commons, Room 2082. The ceremony begins at 11 a.m. and will finish at 1 p.m.

Refreshments will be provided.

Housing and Residence Life makes donation

Ferris State University’s Office of Housing and Residence Life has made a donation of unused furniture to the Pine Ridge Indian Reservation in South Dakota.

According to University and Advancement, 54 beds, 20 dressers, 48 mattresses and four wardrobes from Masselink Hall were donated to children who do not have a bed or other furniture.

Strategic Planning and Resource Council set to meet

On Dec. 11, the university’s Strategic Planning and Resource Council (SPARC) will hold its monthly meeting. The meeting is scheduled for 3 p.m. and will be held in the West Commons Community Center. SPARC Chair Leonard Johnson and Provost Fritz Erickson will lead the discussion regarding Ferris’ strategic plan. The meeting is open to everyone and structured so all those in attendance may participate.

Ferris to sell surplus furniture

On Dec. 8, surplus residence hall furniture will be for sale from 9 a.m. to noon in the Masselink Hall lobby. Items for sale include desks, wardrobes, dressers and bed frames. Appliances such as refrigerators, dishwashers and ranges/ovens will also be available for purchase. All items must be paid for and removed the day of the sale. Cash or check will be accepted.
